Born the seventh of eight children in December of 1957, I spent my formative years in the farmlands of north central Ohio. When I was 9-years-old, I undertook a series of drawing exercises intended to correct a vision defect (amblyopia) which led (inevitably I suppose) to a passion for art and eventual enrollment at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
While eventually obtaining a B.F.A. (Drawing) from the University of Akron, the three-and-a-half years I spent at the Cleveland Institute of Art forever altered my life.
Aside from my personal and professional interest/experience in art, my earliest ambition in life was to become a scientist. Hence, I have always read extensively in the sciences with particular interests in the history and philosophy of science.
In my spare time, when I am not writing for this blog, or reading a book, or running, or riding my bicycle, or playing one of my musical instruments, working on artwork, etc., I can be found designing print graphics and websites as well as performing other variegated tasks with my wife and business partner at our company, TH Design, Inc. in Akron, Ohio.
